Root canal cost in Turkey, per tooth and with a crown

At our Istanbul clinic, root canal treatment costs TRY 4,000–7,000 per tooth including the filling, which is roughly £60–£105, €70–€125 or $80–$140. Back teeth usually need a crown afterwards, which is a separate item: a zirconia crown is TRY 5,000–7,000 and an E.max crown TRY 8,000–12,000 on our list. Retreatment of an old root filling is priced in your written plan after an X-ray.

Root canal Turkey cost: the ranges on our price list

Root canal treatment at our clinic is listed at TRY 4,000–7,000 per tooth, and that range includes the filling that seals the tooth at the end. The crown that many back teeth need afterwards is listed separately, because not every tooth needs one and the material can differ.

Root canal treatment incl. filling (per tooth)4,000–7,000£60–£105€70–€125$80–$140

E.max all-ceramic crown (per tooth)8,000–12,000£120–£180€145–€220$160–$240

Please note: these ranges come from our clinic price list and are shared to help you plan a budget. They are information, not a quote or an offer. The exact cost can only be set after an examination, any X-rays or scans needed, and a written treatment plan. Our list is in Turkish lira; amounts in pounds, euros and dollars are approximate, converted at the European Central Bank rate of 23 October 2026, and change with the exchange rate.

Retreatment, where an old root filling is taken out and the tooth treated again, is not on this table. It varies too much from tooth to tooth to put in a list, so it is priced in your written plan once the dentist has seen an X-ray.

Why one tooth costs more than another

The range exists because teeth are not built the same way. A front tooth usually has a single, fairly straight canal. A lower molar often has three canals and an upper molar commonly four, some of them narrow or curved. More canals mean more time locating, cleaning and filling each one, and more X-rays to check the work.

Other things that move a tooth towards the upper end of the range include:

  • canals that have narrowed or calcified with age or past injury;
  • an active infection that needs a medicated dressing and an extra session before the final seal;
  • a tooth that is heavily broken down, so it needs building up before treatment can be done cleanly;
  • roots with an unusual shape that only show up properly on X-ray.

A dentist can usually tell from a clear X-ray which kind of tooth you have, and that is what turns a broad range into a figure in your plan.

Root canal and crown together: worked examples

For a back tooth, the realistic budget is usually the root canal plus a crown. Here are two examples using the listed ranges. They are illustrations for planning, not quotes.

  • Example 1, root canal and zirconia crown on one molar: TRY 9,000–14,000, roughly £135–£210, €160–€250 or $180–$280.
  • Example 2, root canal and E.max crown on one premolar: TRY 12,000–19,000, roughly £180–£285, €215–€345 or $240–$380.

Zirconia is often chosen for molars because it is very strong under chewing forces. E.max is more translucent and is often preferred where the tooth shows when you smile. If a root-filled tooth has darkened, the material also matters for hiding that colour. Our blog post on zirconia vs E.max explains the difference, and the zirconia crowns cost page goes into crown pricing in more detail.

A front tooth with plenty of healthy structure left may need only the filling that is already included in the root canal range, with no crown at all.

Root canal retreatment: why the cost is set in the plan

Retreatment is the most variable kind of root canal work, which is why we do not put a figure on it until the tooth has been examined. Before the canals can be cleaned again, the old filling material has to be removed, and sometimes an old post or a crown has to come off as well.

Things the dentist looks for on the X-ray include how well the old filling reached the end of each root, whether a canal appears to have been missed, whether there is a post, and whether there are signs of a crack. A crack running down the root changes the conversation completely, because a cracked root often cannot be saved, and paying for retreatment would not be sensible.

If retreatment is possible, your written plan lists the number of sessions and the cost before anything starts. If it is not, the plan sets out the alternatives and what each would cost.

Saving the tooth or taking it out: comparing the real costs

Extraction looks like the lower-cost choice at first: a simple extraction is TRY 1,000–2,500 on our list. But a missing back tooth usually needs replacing to stop the neighbouring teeth drifting and to keep chewing comfortable. That means an implant or a bridge, and the treatment becomes longer and larger than the root canal it replaced.

Our list shows implants from TRY 7,000–9,000 per implant for a Turkish system, before the other parts a complete tooth needs. Your written plan would list every part, such as the abutment, the crown and any graft, so the comparison is fair. If you are weighing those options, see dental implants Turkey cost and implants vs bridges.

When a tooth can be saved with a reasonable outlook, keeping it is usually the better choice for your mouth as well as your budget. When it cannot, an honest plan says so rather than charging for treatment that is unlikely to last.

Fitting root canal work into a trip to Istanbul

Root canal treatment usually takes one to three sessions, and the crown, if needed, comes after the tooth has settled. That shapes how many days you need, and the number of days is part of your total cost even though it is not on our price list.

  • A single-canal tooth with no infection may be finished in one visit.
  • A molar, or a tooth with an abscess, often needs two or three sessions a few days apart.
  • A crown needs a scan or impression, laboratory time and a fitting appointment.

If you send a recent X-ray on WhatsApp, a dentist replies with a preliminary plan and the expected number of days, so you can book flights that match. Please do not cut the stay short to save a night in a hotel: leaving with a temporary filling and an unsettled infection is how a straightforward root canal becomes a problem abroad. Our post on how long to stay in Turkey helps with planning.

What a clear root canal quote should show

Whether you are comparing plans from Turkey, the UK or anywhere else, a useful root canal quote names the tooth, says whether it is a first treatment or a retreatment, and states what is included. Look for:

  • the tooth number and the expected number of sessions;
  • whether the final filling is included (on our list it is);
  • whether a crown is recommended, and which material;
  • X-rays taken during treatment;
  • what happens if the tooth flares up between sessions.

UK and US private fees for root canal treatment are generally higher than in Turkey, but compare written plans, not headline prices. A low figure that leaves out the crown a molar needs is not really a lower figure. Root canal and restorative work at our clinic is carried out by dentists including Dt. Berke Erdal. For the treatment itself, see root canal treatment in Istanbul.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a root canal cost in Turkey?
At our Istanbul clinic, root canal treatment is TRY 4,000–7,000 per tooth on our price list, including the filling, which is about £60–£105, €70–€125 or $80–$140. The exact figure depends on the tooth, how many canals it has and whether there is an infection. It is set in a written plan after an examination and X-ray, before treatment starts.
Is the filling included in the root canal price?
Yes. Our listed range of TRY 4,000–7,000 per tooth includes the filling that seals the tooth once the canals are cleaned and filled. What is not included is a crown. Back teeth usually need one to protect them from cracking, and front teeth with plenty of healthy structure often do not. Your plan will say which applies to each tooth.
How much is a root canal and crown in Turkey?
As an example using our listed ranges, a root canal with a zirconia crown comes to roughly TRY 9,000–14,000, about £135–£210. With an E.max crown it is roughly TRY 12,000–19,000, about £180–£285. These are planning examples, not quotes. The material is chosen after examination, depending on where the tooth is, how much of it remains and how it looks.
How much does root canal retreatment cost?
Retreatment is priced in your written plan rather than on our list, because it varies so much. Removing old filling material, a post or a crown takes different amounts of time, and some teeth turn out to be cracked and not worth retreating. Send a recent X-ray on WhatsApp for a preliminary view; the final cost is confirmed after examination in Istanbul.
Does pulling the tooth cost less than a root canal?
The extraction itself costs less, but it is rarely the end of the cost. A missing back tooth usually needs an implant or bridge, which involves more treatment, more time and more parts than the root canal. When a tooth can be saved with a reasonable outlook, keeping it is usually better. When it cannot, your plan sets out the replacement options and their costs.
How many days do I need in Istanbul for a root canal?
Root canal treatment takes one to three sessions depending on the tooth and any infection. If a crown follows, add time for the scan, the laboratory and the fitting. A dentist can estimate the number of days from a recent X-ray sent on WhatsApp, so you can book flights to match the plan rather than squeeze the treatment into a short stay.
Why is the price a range instead of a fixed amount?
Because the work differs from tooth to tooth. A single-canal front tooth is far simpler than a four-canal molar with curved roots or an abscess. Sessions, X-rays and the time needed all change. A fixed price would be wrong for many teeth, so we share the range for budgeting and confirm the exact amount in writing after the examination and X-ray.

This page gives general information and is not a substitute for an examination. Whether a treatment is suitable for you, and how long it takes, is decided after your dentist has examined you and reviewed your X-rays.
