How much is teeth whitening in Istanbul?
Our price list puts professional teeth whitening at TRY 4,000–10,000 per treatment. In pounds that is about £60–£150; in euros about €70–€180; in dollars about $80–$200. These are ranges, not a quote, because two people asking for “whitening” can need quite different things.
| Treatment | Price range (TRY) | Approx. GBP | Approx. EUR | Approx. USD |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Teeth whitening (per treatment) | 4,000–10,000 | £60–£150 | €70–€180 | $80–$200 |
| Scale and polish (full mouth) | 1,500–2,500 | £25–£40 | €25–€45 | $30–$50 |
| Composite filling (per tooth) | 1,750–2,500 | £25–£40 | €30–€45 | $35–$50 |
Please note: these ranges come from our clinic price list and are shared to help you plan a budget. They are information, not a quote or an offer. The exact cost can only be set after an examination, any X-rays or scans needed, and a written treatment plan. Our list is in Turkish lira; amounts in pounds, euros and dollars are approximate, converted at the European Central Bank rate of 23 October 2026, and change with the exchange rate.
The cleaning and filling rows are there because they are the two things most often added before whitening. Many people need neither. Your plan will say which, if any, apply to you.
In-clinic, home or combined whitening: how the method affects the price
The method you and your dentist choose is one of the main reasons the price sits higher or lower in the range. There are three broad routes, and each has a different balance of time, control and cost.
- In-clinic whitening. A stronger gel is applied in the chair while your gums are protected, in one appointment. It suits visitors who have only a few days in Istanbul.
- Home whitening. Trays are made to fit your teeth and you wear a milder gel at home for a set period. The change is more gradual, and the trays can be kept for occasional top-ups later, as long as a dentist has checked your teeth.
- Combined whitening. A session in the clinic is followed by home trays. People choose this when their starting shade is stubborn or when they want to hold the result for longer.
We do not push one route over another. The right one depends on your starting colour, how sensitive your teeth are, and how long you are staying. Your written plan names the method and its cost, so you are not comparing a single in-chair session at one place with a combined course at another.
Why cleaning often comes first, and what it adds to the cost
A scale and polish is listed at TRY 1,500–2,500 for the full mouth (about £25–£40). It is often the first step, for a simple reason: whitening gel works on enamel it can reach. Tartar, plaque and surface stain from tea, coffee or smoking sit on top of the enamel and block the gel, which can leave the result patchy.
Cleaning also lets the dentist see the real colour of your teeth. Quite often a good clean lifts the shade noticeably on its own, and some people decide at that point that they are happy and do not need whitening at all. That is a perfectly reasonable outcome, and it costs less.
As an example only: a scale and polish followed by whitening, at the listed ranges, would come to roughly TRY 5,500–12,500 (about £85–£190, €95–€225 or $110–$250). If your gums are inflamed or bleeding, they should settle before whitening; our page on teeth cleaning in Istanbul explains what a professional clean involves.
What else decides where you fall in the range
Beyond the method, a few practical factors move the price and the outcome:
- Your starting shade and type of staining. Yellowish teeth usually respond well. Grey or banded staining responds more slowly, and may need a longer course or a different approach entirely.
- How many teeth show when you smile. Whitening is applied to the teeth in your smile line. A wide smile simply involves more teeth.
- Sensitivity. If your teeth are already sensitive, the dentist may use a gentler gel over more time, which can change the plan.
- Work needed first. Small cavities or leaking fillings should be dealt with before gel touches them, so a composite filling may appear on the plan.
- Old crowns, veneers or bonding on front teeth. These do not change colour. Whitening around them can leave a mismatch, and replacing them is a separate cost.
None of these can be judged from a price list. They can be judged, at least provisionally, from good photos, which is why we ask for them before you travel.
Whitening before veneers or crowns: budgeting in the right order
If whitening is one part of a bigger cosmetic plan, it belongs at the start, and it is worth costing it that way. Porcelain and composite keep the colour they are made in. Whiten afterwards and your natural teeth lighten while the new work stays the same, which can mean paying to redo restorations that were matched to your old shade.
In a combined plan, whitening is done first, the colour is allowed to settle, and the veneers or crowns are matched to the lighter teeth. Sometimes whitening reduces the number of veneers someone thinks they need, because the teeth that were only discoloured now look fine. The cost of veneers is explained separately on our veneers in Turkey cost page, and the full price list page shows all the ranges together.
Is teeth whitening in Turkey worth the trip on its own?
Honestly, for most people, whitening alone is not a reason to fly to Istanbul. It is a short, relatively modest treatment, and once you add flights and accommodation, the saving compared with having it done near home may be small or nothing. Private prices in the UK, Ireland and the US are generally higher, but the trip costs money too.
Where it does make sense is as part of a visit you are already making: you are in Istanbul for work or a holiday, or you are having other dental treatment here and want the colour sorted out first. In those cases one extra appointment fits easily into the stay. If you are deciding whether to travel at all, our dental tourism guide helps you weigh up the whole picture, not just the treatment fee.
How to read a whitening quote, here or anywhere
Whitening is offered in many forms, and headline prices can hide real differences. When you compare written plans, check that each one tells you:
- whether a dental examination comes before the whitening, and who carries it out;
- which method is used: in-clinic, home trays or both;
- whether a cleaning is included, recommended or not needed;
- what is done about existing fillings, crowns or veneers in your smile;
- what aftercare and sensitivity advice you will receive;
- the total in one currency, with any separate items listed.
Be careful with whitening offered without any check of your teeth and gums. Gel on an untreated cavity or on inflamed gums is uncomfortable and can make problems worse. A plan that looks a little more expensive because it includes a proper check is usually the more honest one.
Getting a price for your own teeth
The quickest way to move from a range to a realistic figure is to send clear photos of your smile in daylight on WhatsApp, along with any recent X-rays you have. A dentist reviews them and replies with a preliminary plan and the expected number of days. The final cost is set after your examination in Istanbul, in writing, before any treatment starts.
Our clinic is in Zeytinburnu and open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–19:00. For directions, see how to get here, or contact us with any questions.
