Same day dental implants in Turkey

Same day implants in Turkey usually means one of two things: an implant placed on the same day a tooth is removed, or temporary teeth attached to new implants within a day or so of surgery. Both are possible only when your bone and gum allow it, and in either case the final teeth are made after the implants have healed, typically three to six months later.

What “same day implants” really means

“Same day implants” and “one day dental implants” are popular phrases, but they cover different procedures, and it helps to know which one is being offered. In dental terms there are two separate ideas:

  • Immediate placement: the implant goes into the socket on the same day the tooth is taken out, instead of waiting months for the socket to heal first.
  • Immediate loading: a tooth or a set of teeth is attached to the implant within a short time of surgery, usually the same day or within a few days, instead of leaving the implant buried while it heals.

A case can have one, both or neither. You might have a tooth removed and an implant placed the same day but no tooth fixed on it yet; or an implant placed into healed bone with a temporary tooth attached straight away. What “same day” almost never means is final teeth on the day of surgery. The teeth fixed on that day are temporary.

Immediate placement: implant on the day of extraction

Placing an implant straight into a fresh socket saves one stage of surgery and several months of waiting. It can also help keep the gum and bone shape at the front of the mouth, where appearance matters most.

It is only suitable when certain conditions are met:

  • the tooth can be removed without breaking the thin bone walls around it;
  • there is enough bone beyond the tip of the root to anchor the implant firmly;
  • there is no significant infection or pus at the site that cannot be cleaned out;
  • the gum is thick and healthy enough to stay in position as it heals.

Often a small gap remains between the implant and the socket wall, which is filled with graft material; see bone graft in Turkey. If, once the tooth is out, the dentist finds the bone is damaged or infected, the safer choice is to clean the socket, preserve it with a graft and place the implant after healing. That decision is made during surgery, which is why it cannot be promised beforehand.

Same day implants, step by step

  1. Before you travel: X-rays and photos: Send them on WhatsApp. A dentist replies with a preliminary plan, whether immediate placement or loading looks possible, and the expected days.
  2. Day 1: examination and imaging: Examination, X-rays and usually a 3D scan to check bone height, width and any infection. Written treatment plan and total cost.
  3. Surgery day: extraction and implant: The tooth is removed if needed and the implant placed under local anaesthetic. Any gap around it is filled with graft material.
  4. Same day or within days: temporary teeth: If the implant is held firmly enough, a temporary tooth or bridge is attached; otherwise a removable temporary is used.
  5. Before you fly: check-up: Healing and the temporary teeth are checked, and you receive diet and cleaning instructions.
  6. 3–6 months later: final teeth: On a second trip the final crown or bridge is made, tried in and fitted once the implants and gums have healed.

Immediate loading: teeth on implants within days

An implant needs to stay almost perfectly still while bone grows onto its surface. Attaching a tooth soon after surgery is safe only when the implant is held very firmly from the start, which dentists call primary stability. The dentist measures this as the implant is placed.

When stability is good, a temporary tooth or bridge can be attached. It is designed to look like a tooth but to take as little biting force as possible:

  • for a single front tooth, the temporary crown is usually kept just out of contact with the opposite teeth, so it is mainly cosmetic for the first months;
  • for a full arch, several implants are joined together by one rigid temporary bridge, which shares the load between them; this is the idea behind “teeth in a day” on All-on-4 or All-on-6.

When stability is not good enough, the implant is left to heal without a tooth on it, and you wear a removable temporary instead. That is not a failure; it is the choice that protects the implant.

Are same day implants in Turkey suitable for you?

Same day approaches are most predictable when the conditions are favourable. Your dentist decides after examination, X-rays and usually a 3D scan. Factors that make them more likely to be suitable:

  • good bone height and density at the site;
  • healthy gums without active gum disease;
  • a non-smoker, or someone willing to stop around surgery;
  • general health that allows normal healing.

Factors that usually mean waiting instead:

  • thin or soft bone, or a large bone defect around the tooth;
  • acute infection at the site;
  • heavy grinding or clenching, which can overload a fresh implant;
  • poorly controlled diabetes, heavy smoking, or medicines that affect bone healing;
  • the need for a sinus lift or larger graft first; see sinus lift in Turkey.

A conventional plan, with healing before teeth are attached, is not an inferior choice. In many people it is simply the more predictable route.

Temporary teeth vs final teeth

The temporary teeth fitted on the day are made quickly, usually from acrylic or composite. They give you a normal appearance and let you speak and smile while the implants heal, but they are not designed to last or to take full chewing force.

The gums shrink and reshape for several months after extractions. Final teeth made too early would soon leave gaps at the gum line, which is why they are made on a second trip, once healing is complete.

Eating and caring for same day implants

The first weeks matter more with immediate loading than with a buried implant, because the temporary teeth are attached to implants that have not yet bonded with the bone.

  • Diet: liquids and very soft food for the first one to two weeks, then soft food you can cut with a fork for the following weeks. Avoid biting into anything with the front teeth, such as apples or sandwiches.
  • No chewing on hard items: nuts, crusty bread, ice, sticky sweets and tough meat can all move a fresh implant.
  • Cleaning: brush gently around the temporary teeth and follow the rinse instructions you are given.
  • Smoking: avoid it; it slows healing and raises the risk of the implant not bonding.

If a temporary tooth feels loose, or a sharp edge appears, contact us on WhatsApp with a photo. A loose temporary should be checked promptly, because movement can disturb the implant underneath.

Risks and honest expectations

Immediate placement and loading are well described in the dental literature and can give results similar to conventional implants in carefully chosen patients. The key words are carefully chosen. In less favourable conditions, the risk of the implant not bonding is higher.

Possible problems include swelling and bruising, a temporary tooth that loosens or breaks, gum shrinking around a front implant so that a little more of the tooth shows, and, occasionally, an implant that fails to bond and has to be removed and replaced after healing. Most of these are reduced by careful selection, a soft diet and keeping the area clean.

Implant surgery at our clinic is carried out by Dt. Yusuf Yuca, PhD, Dt. Cemal Özdemir and Dt. Kadri Söylemez, according to the case.

Same day implants Turkey: trips and cost

Even with same day teeth, implant treatment usually involves two trips to Istanbul: one for surgery and temporary teeth, and one for the final teeth after healing. The first trip is often around five to seven days, so the dentist can check the area before you fly.

The implant itself is priced per implant, as in our price list, whether or not it is loaded immediately; the ranges are on the dental implants cost page. The temporary teeth, final crowns or bridge, and any graft are listed separately in your written plan. Send your photos and X-rays on WhatsApp and a dentist will reply with a preliminary plan, including whether same day teeth look possible in your case.

Frequently asked questions

Can you get dental implants in one day in Turkey?
You can sometimes have the implant placed and temporary teeth attached on the same day, if your bone and gum allow it and the implant is held firmly. The final teeth are not made on that day. They follow after the implants have bonded with the bone, usually three to six months later, on a second trip. Your dentist decides what is safe after examination and imaging.
What is the difference between immediate placement and immediate loading?
Immediate placement means the implant goes into the socket on the same day the tooth is removed. Immediate loading means a tooth or bridge is attached to the implant soon after surgery, usually within a few days. They are separate decisions. A patient can have an implant placed immediately but left to heal without a tooth, or a tooth attached to an implant placed in healed bone.
Are same day teeth my final teeth?
No. The teeth attached on the day are temporary, usually acrylic or composite, and are designed for appearance and gentle use while the implants heal. The gums also change shape for several months after extractions. The final teeth, made from stronger materials such as zirconia, are fitted once healing is complete, typically three to six months later on a second trip.
Who cannot have same day implants?
Same day implants are usually not suitable where the bone is thin or soft, where there is acute infection at the site, where a sinus lift or larger graft is needed first, or in heavy grinders. Heavy smoking, poorly controlled diabetes and some bone medicines also make waiting the safer choice. In these cases the implant is placed, or left to heal, before any tooth is attached.
Is a same day implant riskier than a conventional implant?
In carefully chosen patients, the dental literature reports results similar to conventional implants. The risk rises when conditions are less favourable, such as soft bone or infection, or when the soft diet is not followed. That is why the decision depends on how firmly the implant is held during surgery, and why a dentist may change the plan on the day.
What can I eat after same day implants?
Liquids and very soft food for the first one to two weeks, then soft food you can cut with a fork, such as pasta, fish, eggs and cooked vegetables. Avoid biting with the front teeth and avoid nuts, crusty bread, ice and sticky sweets until the dentist says otherwise. The aim is to keep the healing implants as still as possible.
How many trips do same day implants need?
Usually two. On the first trip, of about five to seven days, the implant is placed and temporary teeth are attached where suitable, with a check-up before you fly. On the second trip, three to six months later, the final teeth are made and fitted. If grafting must heal before an implant can go in, the plan may need an extra stage.
