All-on-6 dental implants in Turkey

All-on-6 in Turkey is a fixed full arch of teeth held on six implants instead of four, which spreads the biting load over more points and is often chosen for the upper jaw, softer bone or a strong bite. Treatment in Istanbul usually takes two trips: implants and fixed temporary teeth first, then the final bridge after three to six months of healing.

All-on-6 vs All-on-4: what actually changes?

The difference is the number of support points under the same bridge. With All-on-6, six implants hold one rigid set of twelve or so teeth, instead of four. Because the extra two implants are usually placed further back along the arch, the bridge has less of an overhang (a cantilever) behind the last implant, and each implant carries a smaller share of the chewing force.

All-on-4 relies on tilting the two back implants to reach good bone while avoiding the sinus or the nerve. All-on-6 more often uses implants that stand closer to upright, so it needs a reasonable amount of bone along more of the jaw. That is the trade-off in one sentence: six implants give broader support, but they need bone in more places. Our All-on-4 page covers the four-implant design itself; this page looks at when the extra two make sense.

Who is All-on-6 in Turkey usually suited to?

All-on-6 tends to be suggested when the bone is good enough to hold six implants and there is a reason to want extra support. Typical situations include:

  • The upper jaw. Upper bone is generally softer and less dense than lower bone, so more implants can help share the load.
  • A strong bite or grinding. People who clench or grind put heavy forces on a full-arch bridge; more implants reduce the strain on each one and on the screws.
  • A wide or long arch. A larger jaw needs a longer bridge, and extra implants shorten the unsupported sections.
  • Natural teeth or another fixed bridge in the opposite jaw. These bite harder than a removable denture would, which increases load.

It may not be the right choice when bone at the back of the jaw is very thin, or when the sinus sits low. In those cases All-on-4 with tilted implants, a sinus lift or bone grafting may be considered instead. The dentist decides after examination, X-rays and usually a 3D scan.

All-on-6 in Istanbul, step by step

  1. Before you travel: X-rays on WhatsApp: Send a panoramic X-ray or photos. A dentist replies with a preliminary plan, whether four or six implants look likely and the expected number of days.
  2. Trip 1, day 1: examination and scan: Clinical examination, X-rays and a 3D scan if needed, medical history review and your written treatment plan with the total cost.
  3. Trip 1, day 2: surgery: Extractions where needed and placement of six implants per arch under local anaesthetic.
  4. Trip 1, days 3–6: temporary bridge: A fixed temporary bridge is attached if the implants are stable enough, the bite is checked and you receive diet and cleaning instructions.
  5. At home: 3–6 months of healing: The implants bond with the bone and the gums settle. Soft food first, then gradually firmer food as advised.
  6. Trip 2: final bridge: New scans or impressions, a try-in of shape and shade, then fitting of the final bridge and bite adjustment.

Does a sixth implant make the bridge last longer?

More support gives the bridge some margin, but it does not make it immune to problems. The dental literature reports good long-term results for both four- and six-implant full arches when cases are well planned and kept clean. The number of implants is one factor among several, alongside bone quality, bite, smoking and daily hygiene.

One practical advantage is redundancy. If one of six implants were to fail, the remaining five can sometimes keep the bridge working while the problem is treated, depending on which implant is affected. With four implants there is less room for that. This is a possibility, not a promise, and your dentist will explain how it applies to your own plan.

The stages of All-on-6 treatment

All-on-6 follows the same two-trip rhythm as other full-arch implant work, because the bone needs time to bond with the implants before the final bridge is made.

Planning

A panoramic X-ray shows the overall picture; a 3D scan shows bone height, width and the position of the sinus and nerve, which is what decides whether six implants fit. Your medical history is reviewed before any date is set.

First trip

Any remaining teeth that cannot be saved are removed, the six implants are placed under local anaesthetic, and where the implants are held firmly enough a fixed temporary bridge is attached within a few days. If they are not, a removable temporary denture is used during healing.

Second trip

After healing, new impressions or scans are taken, the shape and shade are tried in, and the final bridge is fitted and the bite adjusted. Upper and lower arches can be treated in the same trips when both are needed.

Healing after All-on-6: the first weeks and months

Expect swelling and soreness for the first few days, often peaking around the second or third day, and possibly some bruising on the cheeks. Six implant sites mean slightly more surgery than four, so it is sensible to plan a quiet few days after the operation.

  • Weeks 1–2: a liquid and very soft diet; no chewing hard food on the temporary bridge.
  • Weeks 2–8: food that needs little chewing, such as mashed potato, soft fish, scrambled eggs and well-cooked vegetables.
  • Months 2–6: gradually firmer food as the dentist allows, while the implants finish bonding and the gums settle.

The lower jaw often heals in around three months; the upper jaw, or any grafted area, usually takes longer. The gums also shrink after extractions, which is why the temporary bridge may begin to feel slightly loose underneath and why the final bridge is not made until the tissues are stable.

Final bridge materials for six implants

The final bridge is a single piece joining all six implants. The choice of material depends on your bite and on what it will bite against.

  • Zirconia is very strong and resists staining, which suits many full-arch cases. It is less forgiving if it does chip and can wear opposing natural teeth if not polished well.
  • Acrylic or composite teeth on a metal framework are lighter and easier to repair, but the teeth wear faster and usually need renewing after some years.
  • Porcelain layered on a framework gives fine detail in appearance but can chip under heavy loads.

Bridge design is prosthetic work, and Dt. Osman Cemal Binan works in prosthetic dentistry at our clinic. The material is named in your written plan before treatment begins.

Maintenance: keeping six implants healthy for years

The main long-term risk to any implant is inflammation of the gum and bone around it, known as peri-implantitis. With six implants there are six areas to clean, and the bridge is shaped so you can reach under it. A routine that works for most people:

  • brush the bridge and the gum line twice a day with a soft brush;
  • use a water flosser under the bridge once a day;
  • clean around each implant post with interdental brushes or threaded floss;
  • wear a night guard if you grind;
  • have check-ups and professional cleaning at least once or twice a year with a dentist at home, telling them you have a screw-retained full-arch bridge.

At intervals the bridge can be unscrewed so the implants, screws and the underside of the bridge can be checked and cleaned. Keep the details of your implant system, which we give you in writing, so any dentist can find compatible parts.

All-on-6 Turkey cost: why there is no fixed figure

The cost of All-on-6 in Turkey is set in your written treatment plan, because it depends on things that can only be known after an examination: one arch or both, the implant system, the bridge material, the number of extractions, whether grafting or a sinus lift is needed, and the temporary teeth between trips. We do not publish a single full-arch price for that reason.

Send a panoramic X-ray, or clear photos if you have no X-ray, on WhatsApp. A dentist reviews them and replies with a preliminary plan, including whether four or six implants look more suitable and the expected number of days. The confirmed plan and total cost are given in writing after your examination in Istanbul. Per-implant ranges from our price list are shown on the dental implants cost page, and the wider options are compared on full mouth dental implants.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between All-on-4 and All-on-6?
Both give you a fixed full arch of teeth on implants. All-on-4 uses four implants, with the back two usually tilted to avoid the sinus or nerve. All-on-6 uses six, placed along more of the jaw, so the chewing force is spread over more points and the bridge has less overhang at the back. All-on-6 needs bone in more places. Your dentist recommends one after seeing your X-rays and scan.
Is All-on-6 better than All-on-4?
Neither is better for everyone. All-on-6 gives broader support, which can help in softer upper-jaw bone, a large arch or a strong bite. All-on-4 can be entirely suitable where the bone is good, and it can avoid grafting when bone at the back is thin. The right number of implants depends on your bone, bite and the opposite jaw, and is decided after examination and imaging.
How long does All-on-6 take in Turkey?
Usually two trips to Istanbul of about five to seven days each. The first covers examination, extractions, implant placement and a temporary bridge. The second, after roughly three to six months of healing, is for the final bridge. If a sinus lift or a larger bone graft is needed first, the overall timeline is longer, and your preliminary plan will tell you this before you book.
How much does All-on-6 cost in Turkey?
The cost of All-on-6 is set in your written treatment plan after examination, because it depends on one or both arches, the implant system, the bridge material, extractions, any grafting and the temporary teeth. We do not publish a single full-arch price. Send an X-ray or photos on WhatsApp and a dentist will reply with a preliminary plan; the total is confirmed in writing in Istanbul.
Will I have teeth after the first All-on-6 trip?
In most cases a fixed temporary bridge is attached within a few days of surgery, so you go home with teeth. This is only done when the implants are held firmly enough in the bone. If they are not, you wear a removable temporary denture during healing so the implants are not overloaded. The dentist decides on the day of surgery, based on how stable each implant is.
Can I have All-on-6 on the upper and lower jaw?
Yes. Both arches can be treated, often on the same trips, so the way the new teeth meet can be planned together. Some people have All-on-6 on the upper jaw, where bone is softer, and All-on-4 on the lower jaw, where bone is denser. Treating both arches means a longer surgical day and more swelling, which is worth planning for when you book your stay.
How do I clean an All-on-6 bridge?
Brush the bridge and gum line twice a day, run a water flosser beneath it every day and clean around each implant post with interdental brushes or threaded floss. Have professional check-ups at least once or twice a year. At intervals a dentist can unscrew the bridge to clean and check the implants and screws. A night guard is advised if you grind your teeth.
