Braces in Turkey: cost of the whole treatment

At our Istanbul clinic, fixed braces cost TRY 65,000–90,000 for the whole treatment on our price list, roughly £980–£1,350, €1,170–€1,620 or $1,310–$1,810. That figure covers a course of treatment that usually lasts many months with regular adjustment visits, so for anyone living abroad, the number of trips matters as much as the price. The exact cost is set in a written plan after examination.

Braces Turkey cost: the range on our price list

Fixed braces are listed at TRY 65,000–90,000 for the whole treatment. It is a price for the course of treatment, not a monthly fee, and not a price for fitting alone. Clear aligners are shown for comparison, as many people consider both.

Please note: these ranges come from our clinic price list and are shared to help you plan a budget. They are information, not a quote or an offer. The exact cost can only be set after an examination, any X-rays or scans needed, and a written treatment plan. Our list is in Turkish lira; amounts in pounds, euros and dollars are approximate, converted at the European Central Bank rate of 23 October 2026, and change with the exchange rate.

Teeth and gums need to be healthy before brackets go on, which is why cleaning and fillings appear on the table. Any work needed first is listed separately in your plan.

What decides where your treatment falls in the range

Braces are not one fixed job. The figure within the range depends mainly on:

  • How complex the movement is. Mild crowding of the front teeth is a different undertaking from correcting a deep bite, an open bite or teeth that are far out of line.
  • The expected length of treatment. Longer treatment means more adjustment visits, more wire changes and more chair time.
  • The type of brace. Metal, tooth-coloured ceramic and lingual braces (fitted behind the teeth) differ in materials and in how long each adjustment takes. Which type suits you is decided at the examination, and the plan states it.
  • One arch or both. Most people need both, but not everyone.
  • Retainers. Holding the result afterwards is part of orthodontic treatment. Your plan should say clearly what is included.

Teeth that are impacted, or a bite problem that comes from the jaws themselves rather than the teeth, may need more than braces alone. The dentist will tell you if that is the case before you commit to anything.

The honest problem: long treatment while living abroad

Braces are the orthodontic treatment that fits least easily into dental travel, and we would rather say so plainly. Fixed braces are usually worn for something like 12 to 24 months, and the wire needs checking and adjusting typically every 4 to 8 weeks. Over a full course, that can mean a dozen or more visits.

Those adjustments cannot be done remotely, and they cannot simply be skipped. If an adjustment is missed, treatment stalls; a loose bracket stops working; a wire can keep pushing a tooth in a direction that is no longer wanted. A dentist near your home may be unwilling to take over braces fitted elsewhere midway through treatment, and if they do, they will charge for it.

So the real question for someone living in the UK, Ireland or elsewhere is not whether braces cost less in Istanbul. It is whether you can realistically be here for every visit. For most people who live abroad and visit once, the honest answer is no.

Who braces in Istanbul do make sense for

Braces here are a good fit when the visit schedule is not a burden. That usually means:

  • people who live in Istanbul, including expat families and international students;
  • people who spend long periods in Istanbul for work or family reasons;
  • frequent visitors who can genuinely keep to an adjustment schedule for the whole treatment.

Children and teenagers are the most common braces patients everywhere, and for families living in the city, regular visits are straightforward. If you are not sure whether your plans allow it, tell us when you send your photos. We would rather discuss it before you start than have you discover halfway through that the trips do not work.

Counting the full cost when you travel for braces

If you are thinking of travelling for braces, the fee on our list is only part of your budget. A fair calculation adds:

  • return flights for every adjustment visit, not just the first;
  • accommodation and time off work for each trip;
  • the cost of any urgent repair near home if a bracket comes loose between visits;
  • retainers and follow-up at the end.

As a worked example only: if treatment needed twelve visits, travel would be twelve sets of flights on top of a whole-treatment fee of TRY 65,000–90,000 (about £980–£1,350). For many people living abroad, that total no longer compares well with treatment near home. For some, such as those with family in Istanbul, it still works. The point is to do the sum honestly before you begin.

Braces or clear aligners if you live abroad

Clear aligners are listed higher on our price list (TRY 90,000–150,000 for the whole treatment), but for some people living abroad they involve fewer trips than fixed braces, because there are no wires to adjust. Whether that applies to you depends on your case, and whether any follow-up can happen without a visit is discussed in your written plan rather than promised beforehand.

Aligners are not a straight substitute. They depend on being worn for most of every day, and fixed braces are often more predictable for large or complex movements. If your teeth need braces, it is better to have them near home than to choose aligners only because they are easier to fit around travel. The clear aligners Turkey cost page explains that treatment, and our orthodontics overview compares the routes.

Honest planning before you commit

Good orthodontic planning starts with what you need and what your life allows, not with a price. Before you agree to braces anywhere, it is worth having in writing:

  • the type of brace and why it was chosen;
  • the estimated length of treatment and the number of visits;
  • what happens if a visit has to be moved, or a bracket comes loose;
  • what is included at the end, especially retainers;
  • any treatment needed first, such as a clean or fillings.

Private orthodontic fees in the UK and the US are generally higher than in Turkey, but compare written plans, not headline prices, and add travel to the Istanbul figure. Our page on braces in Turkey explains the treatment itself, including the differences between metal, ceramic and lingual braces.

Asking for a plan for your own teeth

Send photos of your teeth from the front and both sides, biting together, on WhatsApp, along with any X-rays you have and a line about how often you are in Istanbul. A dentist reviews them and replies with a preliminary plan and the expected number of days for the first stage. The full cost and visit schedule are set after examination at our clinic in Zeytinburnu, which is open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–19:00. You can also contact us first with questions.

Frequently asked questions

How much do braces cost in Turkey?
At our Istanbul clinic, fixed braces are TRY 65,000–90,000 for the whole treatment on our price list, roughly £980–£1,350, €1,170–€1,620 or $1,310–$1,810. Where you fall in the range depends on how complex the movement is, the expected length of treatment, the type of brace and whether one or both arches are treated. The exact cost is set in a written plan after examination.
Is the braces price for the whole treatment or per month?
Our listed range is for the whole treatment, not a monthly fee. It covers a course of fixed orthodontic treatment that typically runs for many months with regular adjustment visits. Any treatment needed before the braces, such as a clean or fillings, is listed separately in your written plan, which also states what is included at the end, including retainers.
Can I get braces in Turkey if I live in the UK?
You can have braces fitted here, but it is only sensible if you can return for adjustments, typically every 4 to 8 weeks for something like 12 to 24 months. Missing visits stalls treatment and can cause problems. For most people who live abroad and can visit only occasionally, having braces fitted near home is the more practical choice.
Do braces cost less in Turkey once travel is included?
Not necessarily. The fee on our list is generally lower than private fees in the UK or US, but braces need many visits, and each one means flights, accommodation and time off work. Add those up for the whole treatment before deciding. For people living in Istanbul, or visiting often for other reasons, the sum looks very different.
Do metal, ceramic and lingual braces cost the same?
The type of brace is one of the factors that decides where your treatment falls in our whole-treatment range. Ceramic and lingual braces involve different materials, and lingual braces are usually custom made with longer adjustment visits. The dentist recommends a type after examining your bite, and the written plan states the type and its cost before you agree to anything.
Are retainers included in the cost of braces?
Retainers are an essential part of orthodontic treatment, because teeth tend to move back after braces come off. Your written plan states whether they are included in the treatment price and which type you will have: a fixed wire behind the front teeth, a removable clear retainer, or both. Check this in any plan you compare, as it makes a real difference.
Are clear aligners a better option if I live abroad?
Sometimes, but not always. Aligners have no wires to adjust, so some cases involve fewer trips, although they are listed higher on our price list. They also depend on wearing the trays for most of every day, and braces are often more predictable for complex movement. Whether any follow-up could be done without a visit is discussed in your written plan.

This page gives general information and is not a substitute for an examination. Whether a treatment is suitable for you, and how long it takes, is decided after your dentist has examined you and reviewed your X-rays.
